The Voice of the Vikings

Francis Howell High School played their first season of football in 1968 with a JV schedule.  The home games were played at Soby Field in Wentzville.

The 1969 season started varsity football for the Vikings.  Home games were moved to C-H Ballpark on St. Peters-Howell Road.  There was no scoreboard and time was kept by the referees.

The first football public address announcer at Francis Howell was Mr. Mike Gibbons.

In addition to teaching social sciences at FH he also coached baseball, basketball and golf.  His announcing career began in 1969.  He retired from teaching in 1997 and continued to be the "Voice of the Vikings" until 2005.
